I have a desktop fish tank that I got at least a year or two ago. It has probably been two. Anyway, I wanted to put a beta fish in it, and actually I do want to, I filled it with water, and put some colored pebbles in the bottom, aquarium gravel but no beta! Part of it is that there are no pet stores in the area. I would have to go somewhere 40=45 minutes away to get the fish, and usually when I am in those areas I am shopping or doing other errands. Buying a fish doesn't hit the radar. Now, since the tank has been sitting so long, I am thinking it should be cleaned before I get a fish..which adds a layer of dificulty since it has all the pebbles in. Sigh! Will I ever follow through with the beta? Only if I make a point of it, and put it on the list. It would be fun to have. I will put it on the counter next to the sink. He never goes up there, so it won't be Niccoed.

Sometimes they don't or they react to something in the water. I had a larger fish tank several years ago, I had it for quite a while, but one fish got a virus of some sort, and it went through the tank and eventually killed them all. There is a fish disease called ick that kills a lot of fish.

@snowy22315 I heard afterwards that the pet store had issues with sick fish, that they were actually selling.

After that long you do need to replace the water in it before putting a fish in. The water loses air just setting.

A little bubbler would help. But bettas breathe from the surface, so that's not essential if you just have one betta.

I had one before. They are neat looking. I could put a plant in the aquarium too.

Oh gosh, I have an uncountable amount of projects I want to do or to finish. One really important note, though - it might not be a good idea to put the fish tank next to the sink, because soap can kill fish, even if a little bit gets splashed into the water. Also if you clean the tank don't use soap, because no matter how well you rinse, some may stay. You can clean with some diluted bleach and rinse well. Chances are pretty good you don't actually need to clean it. If you want to protect the fish, you can get a cover for the tank that is made of wire mesh.

B-4 I would get any type of fish I would do some research on the fish
you are thinking about getting & re do the tank let it cycle & think about
how much work you want to put into having a fish tank in the 1st place.
Even though the thought of having a fish tank sounds exciting think about
the work that goes into having 1 no matter the size of tank you have there
is work called maintance that goes with having a fish tank.

I have had Betas before. You are right though, a fish tank does require a certain degree of commitment.

I don't have anything like that. I do have a wet dry vac, but it isn't designed for something like that.

There are many on my list.
Both at work and at home.
For some, I have outlined broad parameters of what I want to do.
For rest, it is just an idea.
