Fourth place is really good and 21 golds is no small thing. The archery wins specially made me happy to see. Hope india keeps building on this for the next games.

China has so many people, it’s almost expected for them to win so many things. Or, maybe it just seems that way.

@AmbiePam China has been spending big amounts in inculcating sporting culture from a young age. I heard that there are even special schools for those who are not keen on academics but in sports from an earlier age. I think China got 300+ medals in Asian Games and it also wins a lot in Olympics as well. For India or other countries in Asia to catch up (excluding Japan and South Korea), a lot needs to be done.

There was a massive surge for India in terms of Gold medals in the last 2 days - 11 in last two vs 10 earlier. Archery, Wrestling, Boxing provided fillip to the medals. So did Hockey, Cricket, one in Golf, some in shooting & athletics as well. Number of Gold medals were less than expected in athletics & shooting, including some near misses. Yet overall, it all turned out to be a bright total. Good job by the Indian sportsmen!
