Hi, everyone. It’s instant update time.
Not too far from where I spent the night is where Hank Williams spent his last hours. He was found dead in the back of his Cadillac in Oak Hill, West Virginia in the wee hours of New Year’s Day, 1953. If you don’t know, there are almost as many conspiracy theories about his death as JFK’s. I’ll be the first to agree that there should have been a lot of investigation done, but they just didn’t do that back then.
Hank’s death put the sleepy town of Oak Hill (population of about 7,500) on the map. Like many of the towns in this state, it was for the wrong reason. Just another tragedy in a state way too familiar with tragedy.
There are two plaques devoted to Hank in the town: one about the fateful night, and the one pictured, in front of the library. This was placed by his Opry friends so that Hank won’t be forgotten.
Fat chance that’ll happen.
My photo of the memorial plaque.

All day no one has been able to post pics. Anyway I'm sure you been to the museum in Montgomery and seen the car.

Looks like the site is having photo problems again. Too bad, I would have liked to have seen it.
