We’re all over the place, aren’t we! Indiana, Hollywood, and now L.A. I’m glad we’re just going in song and not having to drive it.
Here we go with one of my favorite albums of the 70s.
Honey Don’t Leave L.A. - James Taylor
Man, James Taylor’s JT album is classic. That duet with then-wife Carly Simon, “Terra Nova,” his ode to rush hour, “Traffic Jam,” and that hit “Your Smiling Face,” which is on my 100 favorites list, are highlights of a masterful album.
This song was written by longtime band member/collaborator Danny Kortchmar (the guy who wrote a song on last month’s countdown, and the guy with the nickname I can’t say here ). He broke up with a French girlfriend who moved back to France. He wasn’t happy about it.
At least he, and by extension Taylor, got a great song out of it.
PS: that’s Kortchmar in the screen grab.

You know I dislike Taylor.....however.....Danny Kortchmar had a close association with some girl singer who had some degree of popularity back in the 70s and 80s.

You have to admit that at least ONCE you’ve watched Linda’s “Lies” video just to focus on Hootch’s (with a K) facial expressions.

Was it him she thought was so vain?
Did he think this song was about him
