It's Ladies Night - "Dark Lady"

Sometimes, I just start off with a fun fact. Because why not? Fun Fact: Cher is the only Academy Award-winning actor inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Dark Lady” is the title track to Cher’s 1974 album (the song itself was released as a single in late-1973.) It was written and composed by Johnny Durrill, then a keyboardist for surf rock legends The Ventures. The song ends in a double murder, so you could say it’s a dark tune. Despite Dark Lady being Cher’s 11th solo album, “Dark Lady” was only her third #1 hit (unsurprisingly, the other two to top the Hot 100 were “Gypsys, Tramps and Thieves” and “Half-Breed.” She would not top that chart again until 1998, with her mega-hit, “Believe.” Final Fun Fact: Dark Lady was the final Cher album promoted on The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, as the show was cancelled later the same month as its release.
