She Said She Was Breastfeeding Because She Couldn't Afford Formula

I stopped by the nearby gas station/convenience store to buy some lottery tickets.
The one cashier asked me if I wanted a certain ticket in addition to what I'd already bought and I said, "Sure, I don't need any excuses to spend money" They laughed and the younger cashier on the other register said, "You can always buy me something. I'm just kidding. But if you did buy me something, all I want is diapers."
I asked, "Are diapers expensive?" and she said "Oh yes!" She said, "I'm breastfeeding this baby because I can't afford formula."
Naturally, not ever having had kids or grandkids or purchased those types of items, I did not know that.
So now I know.

Disposable diapers are costly. My mother did it the old fashioned way which would disgust young: washing cloth diapers.

We did as well. Washable nappies/ diapers are very trendy these days and come in all sorts of fancy designs! And there's even a thriving market in second hand ones. We used second hand nappies for both our girls and then passed them on to friends who used them for their two children, they were great value!

Just simple it appears that babies can be too expensive for some people and she cannot possibly keep having milk to feed the baby,
