People Are Always Trying to “Fix” Things

There’s always been the saying that men try to “fix “ women’s problems when all women really want them to do is listen. Do you remember the movies called “Legally Blonde “ with Reese Witherspoon? Amazon prime has created a streaming series called. “Elle” showing the main character navigating high school. She’s a very genuinely kind person, but she goes around trying to”fix” everybody’s problem and usually ends up making them worse or creating new ones Sometimes we just have to survive issues and not try to “fix” them. Not everything is fixable.

I didn't know of this series. I would check it out. I think women are guiltier of trying to "fix" men than the other way around.

Well, that reminds me of another old saying. Women marry men with the goal of changing them and men marry women with a goal of the woman staying the same.

Listening goes a long way. Men sure do like to try to “fix” things, you’re right. They seem to think that’s their job. I guess God is the ultimate Fixer, and sometimes even He doesn’t intervene. I guess that’s what Heaven is for.

I agree not everything can be fixed. When a friend tells me his or her problem, I just listen. I know they tell me because they only wanted someone to listen to them.

@looeyville I can’t stand it when people try to fix me. All I need is to be able to say that life sucks, I don’t need anyone to suggest solutions. Am I becoming a woman perhaps?!

You are right we need to survive issues instead of trying to fix them.

Funny how Elle is always trying to fix everything when most people just want someone to hear them out. I never thought about it like that but its so true. Sometimes just being there is the whole help.

Just loved Legally Blonde and her little doggy and cheered for her at the end. The second one is great too,

I have a friend like that. I guess it's natural to want to help and make things better, but sometimes they don't even let you finish talking about what the problem is before jumping in!
