Mother-In-Law Is Not Having a Good Week

I've already told you yesterday that she was apprehensive to go to the eye doctor with a caregiver in a medical transport. She called late yesterday afternoon to say it all went well. She liked the caregiver and she liked getting a ride in a car.
Now today she's just called us because she got a note that she's having a haircut appointment at 1:45 today. They have cut her hair there at least 6 times. There's a beauty salon on campus just for the residents. She doesn't have to pay for it. We signed her up for one haircut each month.
But she sounded very fearful. "Did you all arrange this?" she asked. "I don't want strangers coming and getting me and taking me somewhere." We reassured her that we approved of the haircut and that it's okay to go. Then she said, "Well, I'll let them wash my hair but not cut it or else I won't have any hair left." Her hair is not short. And she's always complaining about it "tickling her neck" or "hanging down in her eyes."
We don't understand her sudden fear. But that's Alzheimer's. Every day is a different day and a new challenge. They have good days and they have bad days.
It was just so disheartening to hear the fear in her voice. She was being all "fire and vinegar" before.
Sigh.
I always include a pink picture with posts about MIL because her favorite color is pink.

My dad, sadly seems to be afraid of the shower.

Yes, I think MIL is too. Not sure why. She "lies" and says she's already taken a shower, but the aides there MUST give her a shower on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Then she "lied" and said the shower doesn't work (it does). I know lots of older people dislike showers. I'm not sure if it's fear of falling, or if the water feels painful on their skin or just what it is.
