The Black Cat

Another old horror movie with two very popular horror movie actors. In “The Black Cat” from 1934, Bela Lugosi plays Dr. Vitus Werdegast, and Boris Karloff plays Hjalmar Poelzig. The film tells of a honeymooning couple who share a train compartment with Dr. Vitus Werdegast, who is a psychiatrist returning to his homeland, Hungary, after spending 15 years in a prisoner of war camp. The couple Joan and Peter Allison make a very bad mistake by seeking shelter at the home of architect Hjalmar Poelzig. Lots of strange and unexpected incidents ahead for them. The film became another big hit for Universal Studios. I would say if you ever meet anyone who looks like either Bela Lugosi or Boris Karloff, head for the hills.
