The Mad Scientist

Of all the old actors, I think Bela Lugosi is the perfect choice to play a mad scientist. Another old horror movie, the 1932 American horror film “The Murders in the Rue Morgue,” was based on the 1841 short story of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe. . The story itself is horrible to think about, as Doctor Mirakle, played by Bela Lugosi, is a carnival sideshow entertainer and scientist who kidnaps Parisian women so that he can mix their blood with that of his gorilla, Erik. You read that right; he wants to create the perfect mate for his dear ape. While his experiments are disappointing and the mad scientist cannot find satisfactions with them, he meets Camille L’Espanye and comes up with a plot to take suspicion off of himself. He has her kidnapped and her mother murdered, putting all suspicion on Camille’s fiancee, Pierre Dupin, a medical student. Lots of chills and thrills and a movie that is fun to watch.
