Yesterday was the last day of Navaratri. Today is Vijayadashmi, the day on which the seventh incarnation of the God, ShreeRam, killed the demon king, Raavan. Effigies of Raavan will be burned across the country. Idols of the Divine Mother , Durga, will be immersed. Here in our town we will go to see the burning of the effigies of Raavan. In front of my house one of the Raavan effigies will be burned. The effigy in front of my house is 30 feet tall. It is filled with crackers. Thousands of people will be assembled there. And after twenty days from today is Diwali, the festival of light. Navaratri and Vijayadashmi mark the victory of good over the evil and Diwali is the festival of abundance and fulfilment.

. I imagine the whole area will be packed with people. Do you usually watch the celebrations from your house or join the crowd? Wishing you and your family a happy Vijayadashami!

@Shivram59 With the celebrations taking place right in front of your house, I can understand why you would not want to miss them. It is also a nice opportunity to meet friends.
