Visiting with Michael, Jason, and Freddy

The creative minds of Hollywood saw dollar signs when horror movie fans embraced the original movies with Michael, Jason, and Freddy and continued to make an empire out of them. I incorporated these fellows in one post since they are all slashers in their own way and can frighten anyone. Michael first appeared in 1978 in the original film "Halloween." The film set the standard for slasher films as we see a very young Michael wielding a very big knife. Apparently having lost a few marbles, Michael is placed in a mental institution from which he escapes and returns to his hometown to terrorize babysitters like Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, right on Halloween. One of the movies I usually rewatch at this time, but I get the picture that Michael cannot be stopped, and I have enough with the original instead of going through the entire series. Never really figured out exactly what Jason was or represented, but he first appeared in the "Friday the 13th" film released on May 9, 1980, and became a classic American slasher movie. The story revolves around camp counselors being hunted at Camp Crystal Lake. Apparently Jason Voorhees evolved from a vengeful child to a supernatural killer. Again, only the original for me. I got the picture from one film, and I do not like too much slashing. Then we have the ugly fellow with a hat and a hand with steel claws named Freddy Krueger, who provides your worst nightmares. He shows up in “A Nightmare on Elm Street," released in 1984, and also became a classic slasher horror film. It introduces the iconic character Freddy Krueger, who haunts the dreams of teenagers in the fictional town of Springwood. It is the one I watch once a year, but too much Freddy is not good for my worst nightmares. There you have it, and it’s your choice. You could start watching at sunset on Halloween until sunrise the next day, one film after another in any one of the series; however, you would probably need a sedative after that. Interesting fact when horror is in the family. Jamie Lee Curtis, who portrays Laurie Strode in "Halloween," is the daughter of Janet Leigh, who played the unfortunate woman who got slashed in the shower by Norman Bates in "Psycho." Daddy Tony Curtis also joined the ranks of horror films, but that story is saved for tomorrow. Original trailer of “Halloween”

The Halloween series is completely worn out and the same thing over and over. Ditto for Friday the 13th. At least Freddie was a unique character.

@rakski So you're not a slasher movie fan; that's OK. There are plenty of others to see

@RasmaSandra I am not a fan of horror, suspense or thriller movies. I remember that when I was young, I was so afraid of Frankenstein movie that I got fever and bad dreams after watching it

Halloween and Michael are the only ones from which I watched a movie from these three. I saw the original film, and then the Halloween movie they did in 2000 with Jamie Lee and Michelle Williams.

I've watched all these movies back in the day I thought they were okay, but after a while it gets boaring.

Same here, the originals are enough for me. Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street hit different, and I never needed the sequels. Didn't know Jamie Lee Curtis had horror in her family, that's a cool fact.
