Getting a full outfit these days can be hefty expensive and aside from it’s not environmentally economical to waste your money’s worth on fast fashion, Thrifting is the best option to buy things at a fraction of a cost! Thrifting has completely transformed how one can put together outfits mostly because it forces you to get creative instead of just buying a pre-styled mannequin look off the rack. Finding unique vintage pieces or well-made basics and mixing them with stuff already in my closet makes dressing up way more fun, plus it keeps things affordable and sustainable. The best part is that nobody else is going to walk into the room wearing the exact same fit.
It definitely takes a bit of patience to dig through the racks, but the payoff of landing a one-of-a-kind combination for under a few bucks is hard to beat.
What’s your ultimate thrift store rule when looking for pieces that actually mix well with your everyday wardrobe, and what’s the single best outfit combo you’ve built from a second-hand find?

There was a two year period in my childhood that my parents couldn’t afford much of anything, including clothes. I was growing like a weed (I’m 5’11) so there was a real need for new clothes. My mom didn’t want my sister and I to know how poor we were (at the time) so she told us we were going set ourselves a challenge. We were going to go to thrift stores to put together outfits that were better than we could find in a regular store. My sister and I were hooked. We thought we were on a clothing adventure. And boy, did we hunt! I remember once finding a couple of name brand items. It was only about ten years later it suddenly hit me, hey, we were poor! I always knew we didn’t have money, but she kept us from worrying by making it out to be something different.

Thrifting is honestly the way to go, you find stuff nobody else has. My rule is always check the fabric and stitching first, if it feels well made I will grab it. Best combo I made was a vintage denim jacket with plain black basics, still get compliments on it.

Very nice! Yes i agree with you with not having to have the same outfits from others. It's also a good way of saving the environment since you are re-using someone else clothes.
