Let’s go to Los Angeles! In song, of course. Today’s song mentions L.A., and it’s a well-known song…just not the version you know so well! Yeah, sue me. Here’s today’s song. #7: Two More Bottles of Wine - Delbert McClinton Hey, I can use Delbert McClinton’s version. After all, heh wrote it. Without his version there’d be no Emmylou Harris #1 country hit rendition. I love both versions, thank you very much. I’m using McClinton’s original simply because it hasn’t been heard as much as Harris’ rendition. And it’s all right, at midnight or any other time of day. Two More Bottles of Wine Written by Delbert McClinton Recorded by Delbert McClinton From Victim of Life’s Circumstance, 1975 (Famously covered by Emmylou Harris, 1978) L.A. LYRICS: I’m sweeping out a warehouse in West L.A.

Well, that sounds absolutely nothing like "Giving it up for Your Love."

To be fair, he didn’t write “Giving It Up for Your Love.” One of those funny coincidences where a guy touted as a songwriter has one big hit…and didn’t write it.

@FourWalls - See, I did not know that. I just assumed he had written it. That would be like Lou Reed having a big hit written by someone else.

mcclinton writing it and emmylou taking it to number one is such a good bit of music history... i never thought about hearing the original first. Its a real banger of a pick, tbf the original deserves some airtime.

Things that “deserve” airplay haven’t been heard since they slapped a padlock on format playlists about 50 years ago.

You probably know Emmylou’s version. That’s where I first heard this song, too.

Okay you get a pass on this one. Since Emmylou covered it and she's pals with that lesser known girl singer.

Hubby got both song and artist correct, but it took him a little while. I did not know song or artist.
