An update on the mother-in-law

Somebody here asked for an update on my mother-in-law. She keeps rearranging everything in her room and then thinking people are stealing things. I have heard that this is quite common with Alzheimer’s patients. There is a sad development. She uses Poise incontinence pads. We were buying them for her and then the memory care facilities said that they would provide her with very nice incontinence disposable underwear. As you know that is very expensive. But she refuses to wear them. She has given different excuses, including that they don’t fit and that they don’t work. But apparently she’s having more and more. “Accidents.” as of last Wednesday she had two boxes of the pants that we buy her containing 100 pads but yesterday when the sister-in-law went, she was out of pads. We’re not sure if she could’ve gone through 100 pads and four days or if she’s hidden them and can’t find them or exactly what the situation is. We really want to talk her into using the disposable underwear that the facility provides. My hubby will visit her tomorrow. Other than that, it’s just the same situation that we’ve been having for 10 months.

If she hid that many pads in four days, and the facility has no clue where they are, I wonder what that place is paying attention to.

She doesn’t tell the staff of the facility that she’s missing them. She tells us, the family, and then we go and find them in a drawer or under her bed or something. This is the first we’ve heard of it and we’re going to investigate it tomorrow.

@LooeyVille I just assumed they went in her room and noticed the discrepancies.

Try telling her they do not make the other kind anymore and you will look in some more stores, but most of them have sold out and you can't find them or order them anymore. Hopefully, she will accept that. It's worth a try!

I wonder if you could give them to the staff and have them distributed to her similar to how they give medication. So, so sad.

Hiding things then forgetting where is so hard to sort out, and the pads going missing that fast makes me think she stashed them somewhere... hoping your hubby finds them tomorrow. Sending you guys good vibes and i hope the facility staff can help her warm up to the underwear soon fyi.
