We have officially walked away for the last time. We’re also back into classic rock territory for the second day in a row, albeit from a different decade.
“Take Me Away” was a single from Blue Oyster Cult’s 1983 album, The Revolution by Night. It’s one of the band’s heavier tunes - Rolling Stone, in their album review, called it “A 100-MPH on your motorcycle-type of song.” It didn’t perform all that well as a single; it reached #11 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart, which basically means that it got played on rock radio a lot during that time frame, but reached no other charts.
Written by Aldo Nova and vocalist Eric Bloom, “Take Me Away” explores the possibility of extraterrestrial travel and aliens. Nova was working on the song for himself, under the working title “Psycho Ward” before Bloom offered to contribute some lyrics.
And here we are. An undervalued tune in Blue Oyster Cult’s discography.

It's not one of their classics, but it's a great song from them.
