1975 Midnight Special You Tube is a treasure trove for music lovers. There’s everything from b/w vintage to just yesterday. Videos, TV performances, clips, full concerts. Hours can be spent lost in it all. No favoritism shown here so no Linda etc. Criteria is based on exceptional performance so striking as to encourage repeat viewing. Sometimes there are multiple versions of one song and there’s a something extra performance standing out. “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” is admittedly a curious choice. I liked the song as a kid and in youthful ignorance, assumed Elvin Bishop was the singer. No. Mickey Thomas of Jefferson Starship sang lead. Bishop is a renown blues rock guitarist inducted in the Rock and Roll HOF as a member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. What I like concerning this performance are Thomas’ outstanding vocals bookending Bishop’s masterful solo play. Miranda Lambert has covered “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” and as much as I like her, she isn’t close to Thomas and doesn’t have Bishop playing.

I remember that song. I had forgotten that Bishop was in Butterfield's Blues Band. I think Butterfield went to the same High School I went to in Chicago.

Thomas hitting those high notes around Bishop's solo is the part i keep replaying... that's a proper sandwich of a performance. Lambert's cover is fine but yeah no comparison, kinda a nonstarter without Bishop on guitar fr.
