Today my room is being painted and rearranged.. The work is underway. I will have to sleep outside my room tonight. Three labourers are hired to clean the house before Diwali. The labourers are from nearby villages. Today they worked from morning to the afternoon, and then left for their village. Their village are near the jungle. They were afraid of the elephants. They will come again tomorrow morning.By Diwali the house will be clean and look new. By the festival each and every house in the town will be decorated with lights and flowers.

@Shivram59 I have recently retired from teaching in Primary schools and we used to teach about Diwali every year. The children made Diva’s and rangoli patterns and we ate Indian food, we watched the story of Rama and Sita and sang songs, coloured pictures etc ….it was a lovely time.

Thank you. Labourers are scared of elephants. If they reach the jungle in the late evening, they might encounter an elephant standing in the dark. Imagine a black elephant standing in pitch darkness. It's so scaring. Once a man going to his village collided with an elephant. He was killed by the beast.
