For 15 years, I've been living in my head and it brought me nothing but pain. The overthinking I do on a daily basis is enough to give me anxiety and unnecessary stress. Yesterday, I decided to stop. How? by writing again. Not writing for money, as a career, or what. I've written my first journal entry after 15 years of not doing it. And it was so liberating. I realized that I have been carrying too much thoughts in my head for no particular reason and it is giving me unnecessary stress. yesterday, that all stopped. I was able to enjoy the day without thinking too much but just being in the moment. It's such an eye opener. When I was younger, I thought journaling was just taking account of everyday and a place to keep my secrets and thoughts in - all along I was actually keeping parts of myself that are mine - all mine. And the power it holds in my wellbeing. I stopped because I thought it was silly for a 30 something years old to be keeping a diary - what will I write anyway, my life was uneventful anyway. But 15 years later, here I am, writing again. Bring back that ritual that has kept me sane and alive. I never knew how much I would be needing it back. I thought that part of me was over only to find out that it has lovingly reclaimed me back. For the first time in 15 years, I was able to put my thought down, my frustrations, my regrets, my discontent, anything that I have in my head, I wrote them all down. And there's much more clarity after - I smiled and laughed and had fun the entire day despite the fact that it was just an ordinary day. And I am forever thankful that I, once again, am reunited with an old friend. To be able to breath again and relax just because.

I have found that writing I need to have thick skin from critics in other sites that find my writing "Whining" for not following the crowd in kissing the rings of their favorites.

That's true. That's why apart from MyLot, I decided to just write in private. I started an online journal/diary that only I have access to. I don't have to publish every thought or idea because most people won't understand your struggle or how you view things your way.

That’s wonderful! I know journaling got me through some really tough times, and was a great source of therapy for a certain period of years I was really struggling with my life. I even made a list each day of the things I had to be grateful for, from loved ones to a good parking space that day.

Writing it all down and then smiling the whole day over an ordinary day is the part that got me... Glad you found your way back, that's a real gem of a habit imo.

It is. I thought I didn't need it but it somehow found its way back to me, or vis a vis. What's a great hobby you have to help you through the day?
