In the UK we have this odd festival thing called Firework Night, a sort of celebration to commemorate the attempt to blow up the House of Parliament 400 years ago, held every year on November 5th.. Its always been popular,. We have public firework displays and people have them at home as well. Well this year its been very quiet and hardly anyone setting off firework's, all a bit odd. Its almost just stopped out of the blue after 420 years . The economy is tight and fireworks aren't cheap but its fun for the kids. Could it been Brexit's final breath? This year its been the worse ever in my lifetime. Halloween was way more popular with the kids out trick or treating. Maybe the two will merge next year?

I remember an episode of The Champions when Craig pronounced Fawkes as fox, the way you would expect an American to pronounce it.
According to Wikipedia, the mandate for its celebration was repealed in 1859. You can’t keep a good party down, though.
I’m sorry that they aren’t celebrating much this year.
