1983 Pantages Theater I consider “Stop Making Sense” the best rockumentary ever made. Director Jonathan Demme filmed the Talking Heads during three nights at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. The cameras capture the Talking Heads at their zenith and “Life During Wartime” the knockout number. All eyes are understandably on lead singer and part performance artist David Byrne and his unique to say the least stage presence. So much attention is paid Byrne it gets lost what fine musicians his fellow Heads were. This performance is so packed with supercharged energy leaving you exhausted. Look at bassist Tina Weymouth jogging in place the entire time. Byrne running around in circles. The rock funk beat. A classic example of what made 80s new wave so special.
