Beware of Where You Eat From!

When you go in a restaurant make sure you pay attention to their score from DPH not how many people eat there. My sister recently went to a chinese restaurant and ordered beef with broccoli as take out. As soon as she put a spoon of it in her mouth, she realized the beef was spoiled. Because she was on her lunch break at the time she was not able to go back to the restaurant . She didn't even call them and complain about it, which if it had been me I would have even if it was the next day. Of course, I would ask for my money back. I do not eat there because of the rating its about 85, which is still too low for me. This is the same restaurant might I add that my mom says she stopped eating from after realizing one day while she went there to eat that the owners were dropping food and putting it back on the buffet. I learned my lesson after getting food poisoning once from a different Chinese Restaurant. What weird things have you noticed at restaurants? Has an event like this ever happened to you? What would you do?

Cooked foods should not be left standing on the table orkitchen counter for more than 2 hours. Disease-causingbacteria grow in temperatures between 40° F and 140° F.Cooked foods that have been in this temperature range formore than 2 hours should not be eaten. If a dish is to beserved hot, get it from the stove to the table as quickly aspossible. Reheated foods should be brought to a temperatureof at least 165° F. Keep cold foods in the refrigerator oron a bed of ice until serving. This rule is particularly important to remember in the summer months.

An event like this has never happened to me at a restaurant, however I did get food poisoning from a pre-made sub at a grocery store before. I've never been so sick in my entire life, I question myself now as to why I didn't call them and complain.Luckily I've never had a bad experience with a buffett, but I can just imagine what happens behind the scenes. The thought of it actually makes me question why I eat out so much..

I think that if you like to eat out, you just have to take the chance that you woun't get sick. You never know what's going on in the kitchen. Even the best restaraunts can have people in the kitchen who don't wash their hands, drop food and put it back on plates, sneeze on the food, or even worse. I've never had a bad experience at a restaurant, but I know others that have.

If the restaurant has a good rep than chances are it will be okay. I would steer clear from those unknown restaurants or those truck stop burger joints that are in the middle of no where. My husband had a friend back years ago who had gotten severe food poisoning from a place like that. Yuck.

approx. 35 yrs ago I worked in a fast food restaurant and the boss demanded poultry that was defrosted one day, would be used the next day. It was either put back into the cold storage or left lying around in the kitchen where we prepared the chicken. Needless to say some customers complained of the smell and the taste of the one or two day old chicken. It put me off eating chicken for years.
