Watched the Movie "The Da Vinci Code"? Read the Book? Please share your thoughts on both

I've read the book & found it to be quite entertaining. I believe that the Movie was based mostly from the book. But is there any shred of truth to the book? Is it based on reality? Please help me understand how such "truths" come out of nowhere... unless there is something being hidden from us.
