I want to get a walker for a 4 month old for Christmas. Does anyone have any suggestions?

For a 4 month old I would get an exersaucer. At 4 months he will be too little for the walker. Actually he will be little for the exersaucer but you could still prop him up in it so he can have a look around. We got an exersaucer for our oldest when she was 6 months old. She loved that thing. We still have it but it is in storage at my dad's house. My son was a big baby and when we tried him in it at 4 months he didn't fit and we had to adjust the thing to the 2nd setting because his legs were scrunched under him at the lowest setting. He outgrew the thing by the time he was like 6 1/2-7 months old. The walker (which I have seen at Babies R us around here) are pretty cheap. I would wait to get that for when he is sitting up on his own and trying to stand up. It takes them a while to figure out what they are supposed to do in a walker and if you don't have hardwood floors or a big tiled kitchen it is hard to get the thing to move anyway.

Well, then, if he is already getting the exersaucer then I suppose getting him the walker is fine for Christmas. Does he have a play mat? Or one of those "kickers" I don't know what they call them but we always called them kickers. Ours was by Playskool, I think. I don't remember. We had 2 different ones through the year. IT is the the thing where they lay under it and can kick a panel and it lights up. That is always fun for little ones that don't move much. 4 months is a hard time for Christmas shopping. They are too little to really use anything you get them. My oldest was 6 months her first Christmas and I still felt that way. The next two were 2 1/2 months and 1 1/2 months on Christmas. This year I am excited since our newest baby will be 8 1/2 months old on Christmas. But I'm not sure how I will keep her from the tree, lol. Good luck deciding what to get him.

My sister is getting him the exersaucer so I was going to get him the walker. The walker said it was for 4 months and up. I figured she would have it when he is ready to use it. Thank you!!

I agree. An exersaucer would be more worth it. Plus exersaucers can be more fun if you pick out the right one. Get one with lots of toys and noise makers on it.

I dont like walkers. I have 4 children and only 1 used a walker. I noticed that the child comes to depend on it too much and then still struggles to walk when not in the walker. My 3 girls learned to walk without a walkse sooner than my son who had a walker. My son didnt walk untill he was 15 months old and he had a walker. All 3 girls walked right arround there birthdays without walkers. You figure it out.

I never thought of that. I will have to think about that more. My son had one and still walked early.

Well I can counter your point. All 3 of my kids used the walker. My oldest had no interest in walking until she got the walker (at around 9-10 months). Before that she barely stood up and didn't want to walk if you held her hands. After a couple days of trying out the walker she was wanting to do it all. She didn't walk on her own until 14 months but that seemed on track for her. She liked to do things at her own pace (didn't roll until 5 1/2 months, crawled at 7 1/2 months, etc). My son used it and was running through the house at 10 1/2 months. My younger daughter also used (I think more then the others) and was walking 2 days after she turned 1. It had no ill effects on my children if you ask me.

That sounds nice. My loved his walker... he got to explore the house and follow his shadow on the wall! :) But when he turned 9 1/2 to 10 months old, he didn't want to be in the walker... He likes to crawl around and be free! :) He likes to pull himself up to a standing position and just walk along the couch....

My kids had them. They loved them. Now that they are older I don't know what brand is good.
