do people who curse hear themselves cursing?

I'm sure they don't really hear it...it has gotten to be their normal speech pattern and they don't realise it. My mom taped my sister talking once so she could hear how foul-mouthed she had gotten in college and she was shocked! She had just picked it up from others and wasn't really aware of it.

what?..explain please.
