In our today world, televisions and advertisings are very important media..People are lazy reading the books..Many just want to get the information from the pictures, images and video. Do you think it's good? Are pictures more informative than Words?

no, i don't think so. a picture can speak for thousands relevant or irrelevant words or even more but can it speak for the great literary nuances, the unsurpassble embellishment and imagery that the writer intend us to enjoy??? according to me reading can never be a substitute of pictures, movie or any other thing for that matter. books may get overtaken by e-reading, but again the literary enriches wud not lose its place and purpose. whenever i have seen some classic movie and read it afterwards, i have always found the read to be more interesting, gripping and full of minute details that the film maker struggled to portray. and the other way round has always been a dis satisfying process for me. there have always been ppl who being "LAZY" kind, find images and videos to be there easy source of information and prioritise them. at some point we all resort to those. no harm in doing, those have their own purpose. but when comes to real perception of good literatute i think words, essentially, have greater impact. i wud always prefer WORDS to PICTURE, be it literarily, aesthetically or imaginatively.. that's my take on ur discussion.

It is really fun and exciting to read a work by an author really talented in painting pictures with his words! Now, if it is horror or violence...the movies show more than I could ever think of and choose not to see.

there is nothing more informative than reading and book, newspapers or other reading materials. thats why most pictures still have captions under them explaining what the picture is all about. pictures can be informative in an artful sort of way but you still need words to convey its correct meaning becuase different people have different ways of interpreting something they see.

That's true. We could find some good informations on reading, but pictures without words need an interpretation. Thanks for the opinion. I really appreciate it.

pictures is like fast food ,you must just eat but reading book is like cooking ,you will decide the taste of your food and you will decide how to imagine the book but there is not any imagination in watching movies or pictures!!!

First thing it depends upon the person viewing it becaouse different people have different views and opinions.but in fact a picture can speak a lot than words.words are sometime boring to read.but a picture lets you see the beauty of words and understand the matter too.

i think both are very important tools for communication. for example you want to describe an animal or a building, it would be easy to show a picture rather than giving the measurements, shape and size.. or you are describing a girl... wouldnt it be better to see a picture? now lets say you want to stimulate a person's imagination. for example you want to tell a story...if you show him a movie then he is restricted by what he sees. but on the otherhand if you describe it in words or if he reads it from a book, then his enjoyment is limited only by his imagination. so depending on the situation, both are equally important, and together they are really powerful. it is like asking would you prefer to have eye sight or hearing.. you need both.

That's a good explanation. I agree with you.. The motive of this discussion is to make people understand about the good things of reading a book, but it doesn't mean that pictures aren't good. Thanks for the explanation. I really appreciate it.

Yes it is but while drawing or giving a picture one should be very very careful that the picture should say it all

I think that sometimes words are more important than pictures, but sometimes pictures are more informative.

Could you explain it more? Without words, do pictures could tell anything, or it's depend on the people who see it? Thanks for the opinion. I really appreciate it.

it depends on the person and whether the person perceives information more efficiently by reading or listening. Images can be powerful to a visually oriented person. Pictures are worth a thousand words when you consider what is conveyed visually.
