My daughter is almost 8 and she wants a hamster. I am trying to get her to save up to buy it herself. But, Tought I might get it for her for christmas. She wants to spend her money on getting presents for other people and family. What do you think?

Sure. I guess she would be delighted! Hamsters are really cute mammals. Just a tip : Don't get the Roborovski hamsters if your daughter is a first-time owner. Roborovski hamsters are small, and they run very quickly, making them hard to handle. When your daughter is holding the hamster, do make sure the hamster is not too high from the ground in case the hamster decides to jump off. Hamsters take a while to get used to handling, so do be patient. The third thing to know is to clean the cage every week and clean their potty corner every other day. Don't clean the cage too often than once a week as the hamster uses scents to mark their territory. This may lead to fighting between confused hamsters. Happy mylotting to you!

A pet is a great present for people of any ages. The pet of course varies depending on the age. And it's a very nice thing your daughter wants to do. Saving up money for your presents is a very good reason.

It make me feel so good she would rather put her hopes on hold for others. I just wish my other old children was like that.

I think it is wounderful that she wants to spend her money on her family and friends. I think the hamster would be a nice gift/reward. I think you should go for it. She sounds like a very responesable girl.

The fact that she wants to use her money to get others gifts shows how much of a golden heart she really has. Go ahead and get her the hampster for christmas, tell her it was for having such a lovingg heart and caring about others at christmas time. That will be reward enough for her and she will feel better about the decision she made.
