I have some questions about this religion since I really don´t understand some things in it.
I have a grandfather that belongs to Jehovas. I have not been in touch with him for years - all because i refused to join him in his belives.
I do have som eproblems with some aspects and maybe someone can clear them out for me.
First of all - how come you´d rather let a afamilymember or even child die, than give them a bloodtransfusion.
I know that u think that the soul of man is in the blood - but still?
I also do not understand why you don´t celibrate x.-mas and birthdays?
And last but not least. How come u can turn your backs on people or even family who´s had a change of heart and just write them out of your life. Isn´t all people worth the same in your religion?

I have some of the same questions about this religion as you do. I know that the Jehovah's believe that the essence of life (soul) is the blood, and say that is why they do not allow transfusions. However, at the time these scriptures were written we did not have the capability to transfuse blood in order to save lives. Now that we have a safe donated blood supply and the ability to transfuse in order to save life, I don't understand how these people could watch others die just for the sake of an outdated belief. It seems as if there would be some sort of "exception" to the belief if a transfusion would indeed save a life. It's sad to see kids die, but I have had adult patients over the years who needed transfusions because of cancer treatment or surgery and they adamantly refused them. How can these people say that life is sacred, yet turn around and just let someone die?
I'm unsure why they don't celebrate birthdays or any holidays, for that matter. I know that they don't even celebrate Halloween or Valentines Day. I can understand not recognizing the Christian Holidays like Christmas and Easter, since they believe in a different God.
Perhaps the most puzzling and hypocritical aspect of this religion is the way they turn their backs on anyone who does not believe as they do. They have absolutely no respect or tolerance for others outside of their faith, which I feel is absurd. The fact that your own family would disown you for the sake of religion is incomprehensible to me.

i have heard about the state taking over custody of a child for the time a surgery can take - if that can save the childs life - however I have also heard that these kids will not have an easy life with the group afterwards.
I truly do not undrstand the religion adn it would have been nice to hear from someone who actually practice it!

mmm.... i don't usually respond to religion questions but since I want to help you get rid of your unresolved questions here goes:
Most quirks of each religion are inoffensive and I can overlook them. However, I do have a problem when I'm told - and not only by jehova's witneses - that theirs is the only true religion and anyone that doesn't follow it is damned forever.
I find that this religion, like many others has quite a few positive points and aspects, but some should be reviewed in my opinion.
One of the things with religion is that most of the scriptures were written long long time ago and adapted to the reality of that time. Following them blindly without adjusting for the reality now is where I think the mistake is. But then again i could be the one mistaken.
