The state of Pennsylvania (where I live) recently decided to allow gambling and slots come in. Many people are up in arms about it, fearing the worse such as increased crime from addictions, etc. Do you think that allowing gambling is a bad thing?

I don't think that allowing gambling is a bad thing because as an adult you are entitled to choose what is bad or good for you.

I do think allowing gambling is a bad thing as crime will rise and people will blow all their money. There are enough casinos around and there does not need to be anymore. Gambling is not good or healthy.

I hope to see it have a good impact on our area. Right now anyone from the area has to travel at least an hour to gamble on a NY Indian Reservation. I wonder what the impact will be once it gets here.

I think the issue is more the consequences of them becoming addicted such as increased crime and families going on welfare, children being abused, not fed, left alone, etc.

We had the same problem here in Florida when they wanted to get it in. Right now the only place allowed is on the Indian Reservations as well. The thing is they always state crime will rise, that it will cause more criminals to come here, etc. The thing is places like Las Vegas actually rank low on the FBI's list of most criminal areas. That should tell us something don't you think?
