What is this world coming to.......

Joy Ride - Cop Chase
Canada
December 4, 2006 10:57am CST
As the Christmas Holiday is drawing near my botfriend and I were planning to have a lot of good times...until this weekend when our SUV was stolen so someone could go for a joy ride in the snow. Everything has been cleared out of the vehicle that wasn't tacked down including my cane and walking stick that I need for stability while walking. We live a block from the police and it still doesn't stop them. What do we have to do in todays society to stop this from happening and is this a problem that will never go away?

It is truely sad that this is what the wourld is comeing too. This is the holiday sesan the time for giving and family. I am so sorry that you are going though this. THis is the worst time of the year to deal with thid. I hope that you are able to replace all the items with out a lot of out of pocket money spent. Maybe your insurane company can pick up the cost of most of it. Good luck on getting everything replaced.

I am sorry to hear about your vehicle trouble, heop you are able to replace most everything. The world is the way it is because we alow it to be this way...we are not happy about something but we do not change it. We also has given more control to our children which is causing choas and havoc because they don't know the meaning of respect and Discipline. The also feel that everything in this world is their and they can do what the danm well wish to....

Its a shame this type of thing happens .. The answer is not an easy one ..Like here in Australia the law is to soft .. What do you get for murder 3 years if your lucky its wrong the reason being is It cost too much to keep them locked up .. I owned a shop and I got broken into around 20 times!! more or less the same kids, they smashed through the walls and they even came in through the roof ,once they pushed the air -con in and climbed in .. I had to close my shop in the end .. they new who they were and all the police could say our hands are tied and we cant do nothing ... we need justice .. time for the crime

Iam so sorry for what happened to you! I hope you good insurance.I had a similar sitaution a couple of years ago. While they didn't steal our Jeep,we would have been better off if they had!,they broke the window out ,ripped out the dashboard, stole the stereo, amplifier,my subwoofers the rest of my speakers,I had only this system for 3 months! They also got about 200 cd's,the spare tire, jack and all our tools!About 8500.00$ worth of stuff!Unfortunately, our insurance only covered the broken window replacement.Of course they never found the person responsible.Sometimes things like this make you wondre why you work so hard to have something, when it's so easy for someone to come and take it away from you! It's just not right!I honestly felt violated, like someone hit me in my stomach.I think tougher law need to be instuited for these kinds of crimes. Why does seem to be no big geal if someone steals your car,and vandalizes your property nowdays, when in the old days they used to hang horsethieves!?

We were told that if it was not installed in the factory and it was personal belonging it is covered under house insurance not car insuarance.

I am sorry to hear about this happening to you, I sincerely do. It's a shame you can't leave anything out there without securing it to a wall or something and it will be stolen. People have no respect for other peoples belongings anymore. I think the first thing to do about this is not doing these things yourself and raising your children with these values. I allways tried to pass on important values to the children I teach. Even if I would only reach one child, it would be worth the while.

First of all I am so sorry to hear about your vehicle being stolen I hope that everything will turn out ok. I remember one Sunday last summer when I was in church and my friends suv was stolen from the parking lot. I thought it was terrible to find out 3 other churches parking lots were hit also. I pray that it all works out for you.

That's so messed up that people would do that, especially during the holidays. Honestly I think that we need to have a better paid police officers and more of them. I'm sorry that something like that happened to you during the holidays.

i think if you did not get proper security system for your vehicle you are an easy target for them. as of these day theifs are getting more advanced and hitech, and the best way to prevent such thing from happening to you is to be prepared for such theifs. as you can't depend on anyone or even the police for the security of your personal things.

problems is anything you need for security for theft prevention is expensive and those lower class family can't afford it on top of insurance.

Oh that is horrible. So close to Christmas also. The only way to stop this is to put an immobilizer in your car and an alarm though that doesn't fully stop some thieves. :(

I know how you feel. A few years ago, my hubby and I went to a baseball game, the only one we ever attended. We parked out of the official parking lot, and when we got back to the car, the windows were busted out, and everthing was stolen. The car seats for the kids, the stroller, the diaper bag, our coats, the radio, the kids toys. They cleaned it out. We had to have the police get car seats to even get the kids home. I was tragic, and the insurance company wanted the receipts for everything we had to replace. We had to purchase everything and wait for them to send us a check. They said we had to do it that way to prevent fraud. It was horrible. I hope you were able to recoup your losses. I think this will always be a problem. Kids have been joyriding as long as there have been cars.
