clutch on Yamaha 2002 1600 belt driven

I'm wondering if the belt is to tight, when I let off the clutch there is a sqeeking sound down around where the dry belt goes around the main chaft, when I'm rolling in first gear and coasting with the clutch in the sqeeking stops. So do I have clutch problems or is the belt to tight?

It sounds like the belt may be too tight. Check with a yamaha dealer, or their service department, to see what the specs are for the belt tension. I know that with a chain drive there is some slack given to the chain.
