I have to tell you, I am SO tired of beating my head against the wall on some things, that I just give up. Its a real problem for me becasue of my depression issues. If I let something get me down, down I go, and getting back out of that hole is just more struggle. It makes everything seem so fultile and "what's the point?" sets in. I know it sounds like the answer is "Don't let it get you down". Well, I'm learning how to do that and most of the time (in matters that aren't as important at least), I can do that quite well, thank you. But... there are those times and those issues, where discouragement hits me before I can stop it. It will affect my day, my mood, my attitude, and as a result, my life. Please share with me how to stop discouragement from ruining my life.

ur habit is very extreme. u have to work hard to come out of it. but u definitely can. prepare urself for disappointment where u expect it and compose urself when u face it. and realize that nothing comes to u unless God wishes. this is the truth. u have to change ur mind according to what happens to u. other wise life becomes too hard to live. keep courage and keep trying to avoid spells of depression.

Hello. I'm also easily discouraged and it's because I expect too much from myself. I have physical/emotional/psychologica/intellectual limitations that I don't accept because I often compare myself to other people. I always feel that if he/she can do it why can't I? That's where the problem starts because when I don't achieve a goal or objective, I get deeply disappointed so much so that I feel like I'm the dumbest person alive. I don't know if we're remotely in a similar situation but just try not to expect too much from yourself and you might just find a happier and content you.

my trouble is i never give up on a lost cause. Ithink part of depression is that you can never see the possibility of sucess. Clearly then the way to get rid of the discouragement is to keep going at something even when it appears to you as pointless

There will be times when we almost always want to give up and think that the world is conspiring against us. But jsut think about how lucky you are still compared to others, this will be a good start to deviate your discouragements and dissapointments and turn them into blessings.

I honestly believe everyone has their ups and downs, if not they wouldn't be living. Life is full of good and bad. You need to find a good support group (friends, family, etc) and try to keep your head up high. Good luck to you.

Yes I'd have to agree, having a good support group really does help when life gets you down. Sometimes just being able to voice frustrations out with your friends eases the situation and allows you to put a slighty better focus on the situation.
