Well I'll warn you that once you go from dial up to like cable you will never want to go back. I love my cable connection and how much faster it is compared to dial up. I had to do some work on my brothers computer and he has dial up, I couldn't believe how slow it was. It reminded me I will not go back to dial up. If you do a lot of things on line I would suggest upgrading.

We are going no where since our 43 acres is totally paid for. Cable is not an option for us. Was hoping for DSL since our phone company has it in their literature. Not available in our area. When we need to do major things we head to the library and get what we can done. It is an adjustment when we get home. Thanks much for responding.

I had dail up since 1993 because we lived out in the country and there was nothing else available. I found the accellerators helped some. Two years ago we moved into town so I could be closer to my doctors and to get out of the pesticide zone of being surrounded by vinyards. We got DSL and love it but even it has some problems. We no longer have to wait and wait for pages to load.

You are on dial up? Well let me tell you, You are missing a lot i sometimes reapir pc's and when i go to one with a dial up connection, i get really irritated. I am of the opinion that the internet is information lightning fast and there is really no place for dial up unless you cannot recieve Broadband yet! (after all you can have a really high spec pc, but with dial up you may as well have a internet ready mobile phone). We are on the information superhighway and you are riding a bike LOL, seriously though, if you can get broadband then do, you will not regret it and you'll never go back.

OMG...you are missing out on the speed of cable!!! When cable internet service first came out and my partner just had to get it, I wasn't sold on it. I thought it was just another ISP that over charged. But since working on it for years and then seeing my mother have dialup...I would never switch back to dialup again! I love my cable connection! :)

Believe me you are missing alot by not being on DSL or Broadband...I'm on Cable and my speed is 10.9 Mbps and I wouldn't be without it...I have a friend on Dial-up and each I go to work on her computer I sit and wait and wait..LOL....Once you go with a higher speed you won't go back to Dial-up....

I also have a dell pc. I used to have dial up. Now I have DSL high speed. And wow. I never new how fast and easy it could be to use the internet. When I had dial up it seemed to take forever for it to go from page to page but now with DSL it takes only seconds. And it is really better with a site like Mylot because the faster you go through the responses the more money you can make in the shortest amount of time.

My sentiments echo what the others have said. I had dial up until our area could get DSL. I love my DSL. I'm rather impatient and don't like sitting and waiting, so DSL works much better for me. My sister still can't get DSL where she lives and has to use dial up. Believe me, if you can get DSL or cable, do it! You'll never go back to dial up unless you're forced to do so.

I'm on cable internet. I get 10 mega bits per second, and its pretty fast. I haven't had the patience for dial up since 1995!! It just saves so much more time.
