when you meet someone who you think is most likely to become your lifetime partner, do you check out his family background of illnesses or abnormalities? like, cancer, hypertension, mental retardation, autism, epilepsy, etc?

Nope, never thought of it. But of course, we were just eighteen at the time. Twenty-six years later, I know most of these things. But come to think of it, there's more abnormalities in my family! :))

well i dont do a full on background check on him lol but i talk to him about it sure. i want to know what our future could be like. knowing what could potentially happen to him or our children would be a good idea

correct! it won't hurt, anyway, to know beforehand what type of abnormalities could be passed on. that's also for you to be prepared for the eventuality.

no, it wouldn't even cross my mind. If I love someone, I'm not gonna stop going out with him just because his mum had cancer or whatever

you're right, although it wouldn't hurt to check, just to insure that no disease or abnormality is passed on to the kids.

those who do that are ain't looking for a partner, basically they treat marriage as a business investment who will not jump unto it whe he/she feels of disavagtages having his/her partner family connected to him/her.
