metal scraping together. Even though it's not as romantic as your description, metal scraping together hurts my ears and gives me goosebumps.

when i hear or read a really scary ghost story. last night i was lying in my bed trying to sleep when i actually heard somebody groan. i got so scared that all the hair on my nape stood up. creepy.

Wow, ghost stories seem to be popular. I wonder if a gust of wind passing you by and you getting goosebumps would be weird or would it qualify under freaky?
