Do Family Rituals Really Matter?

From grandma's caramel rolls to mom's stuffing to your uncle's perfect mashed potatoes, each of us has traditions and rituals unique to our family. We do them every year, but rarely give them much thought, so do they really matter?
We may not always love out family ritual, but it is a big part of who we are

I think family rituals are important but they should be kept in check. One needs to remember that when grandma started making pies from scratch she probably did not work out of the home 40 hours a week. If making pies from scratch means I won't have time to sing christmas carols with my children then it may be time to start a new tradition.
