So many pastas

I don't get it....why are there so many different types of pasta? I understand you wouldn't want to use spaghetti and lasagna noodles to replace each other. That's obvious. But you have all these different sizes of rotini and elbow macoroni. Why?

Every kind of pasta is not the same. The way they hold sauces, the way they taste, the texture... every pasta dish has it's own unique pasta that should accompany it! I love pasta it is the best :)

people just like their different kinds of pasta. also i dont really think that anyone would care if there were only a few kinds because the bottom line is that they are all the same. the companies just like making tons of different kinds i think.

It's got to be so you can make many different kinds of Italian dishes. I'm not sure if that's right, but that's the only thing that came to my mind when I saw your question.

i guess its like cellphones, companies have to have a new type of cp. same with pastas maybe, they have got to be in different size and shapes and tastes so they will be appealing to the people.
