Cordless Phones- The best thing since sliced bread?

I'm sitting here on the phone to my mother in law (sonn to be) organising my wedding, whilst I'm typing away here on mylot. She doesn't have a cordless phone, and I know it is constantly frustrating for her that she has to sit there dormant whilst she chats, whereas I love the freedom that a cordless phone gives you. Do you have one, and do you think that they are the best invention since sliced bread? OR is that just me?
