I choose one frame and place all the special events that occured for that day (i.e. train ride tickets, several different pictures cut to look 3D and so on.) Then there is one special wall that I place all my sons first times on this wall. It is so wonderful to see them everyday instead of pulling out a photo album.

Wow that is to much money.I buy frames only that are on clearance. Carfully cut the picture around the person or people. You will need a very sharp pair of sissors. Select a few items that you collected on that day such as tickets to the fair, booklets, ect... place a piece of colored paper for background, you will need a glue stick (the stick is better than liquid) add some shiny words with stickers, such as.... my first pony ride, day out with auntie, or maybe where the event took place(ie..fish lake beach) be creative in placement, do not make a straight line, use upper and lower case letters. I over lap pictures with tickets and such and than add the wording. Buy cutting the pictures around the fingers, shoes, ears and hair and places objects near and overlapping it gives the person you cutout life. I hope this helps. Hard to explain, just play around with bad pictures first, you'll get the hang of it. I once cut a picture of my son out rolled it up and put it in a glass ornarment, it pop open and fit the round ornarment perfect top to bottom. It was really cut I made I for each relative, the cost was .77 cents each.

That is a very cute idea for your son, I like that. Sadly, my daughter is 16 mos old, and the last thing I scrapbooked was my baby shower. I am so far behind! I don't follow any set pattern, I put in whatever was important to me at the time. I also have a couple speciality books, like a college book for my husband, I haven't even started anything for the wedding, and then there are the baby pictures. Maybe I can get caught up before the next baby? Maybe not...

I also never could keep up with the amount of pictures that I had taken, That is how I came up with the frame idea, takes only a few minutes to cut a paste and the rest of the pictures go in a box that is indexed by year.

I don't spend alot on scrapbooking. You can go to Walmart or even Target now to purchse supplies which are much cheaper. As well when I go to arts and craft store i only but what is on sale or use a coupon.

You are right about how costly scrapbooking can become, there is a speciality store that just opened up locally that sells color paper and stickers for scrapbooking. What is great about this store is you can bring your pictures and use there special cutting and stamping tools for free. There is a small area provided just for this. Very smart move, lots of mom's will spend the extra pennies for the paper, just to be able to use all the gagets they have to help you scrapbook. Plus what a savings no need to purchase all the little sissors and such.

We only ever made one scrapbook. It was of a trip we took to California and surroundin states. We did it on the cheap by printing photo's i'd taken and adding them to tickets and leaflets we'd kept. We bought a cheap jazzy file-folder like you use in school or office but pretty colour and made the pages 2-sided on A4 card and put them into punched plastic pockets (normal office / school type). It looks great but still lives in the closet!

Take a couple pages out and frame them. Cover the holes by adding a per cut border, you can find the borders at any target, sears, or carft store for about 2.99.
