My vote goes to Linux Mint. It's a descendant of Ubuntu, and their objective is to offer a full-featured experience right out of the box. Unlike other distros, you don't have to go fish online to find terminal instructions and such; CSS and codecs are downloaded and installed by default.

I am currently using both Mandriva and Ubuntu, and I am perfectly happy with both. It would be difficult to select a favourite from the two, although Mandriva is much easier to set up a WLAN with. Considering how many different distributions of Linux are available, there could be lots of better systems that I have simply not encountered yet.

I tried some Linux distributions like Mandriva, Fedora, Red Hat and Knoppix. I currently use Mandriva 2007.1 Spring Edition and I'm very happy of that. I think Mandriva is a good one.
