I have tried to teach my children that there is good and bad in everyone no matter what their race, religion or beliefs are. But when you hear people talk in public or on tv about this immigration problem it makes it difficult. I teach my children that laws are here to be followed or else you will go to jail etc...So when my kids tell me "Mom if people are coming here to this country illegally and know they are breaking the law why are they still here working.living, buying houses, cars and getting free money and food from the governmentwhy should be have to follow the rules and the laws?" The government isn't doing anything about it because they just want their vote and their not suppose to do that either. So what do you say to them when their right?

I think its very important to be truthful to children they have more intelligence than you think. Children are clever and soon work things out for themselves but, it would be more helpful if your child see's you as a person who tells them the truth. I don't believe its good for your child to see everything through rose tinted spectacles the world isn't like that and they need to be told this. Obviously there are ways you should do this and not just show your child the truth all in one go because that could set them back. As long as you are honest and true your child will soon learn about the world around them.

Good luck. It's hard to explain something like that to children. I would probably tell my niece (who lives with me) that some things just aren't fair and that they have not been caught yet. That some people do not care about what laws they break but hopefully they will be caught and have to pay the consequences.

You tell your children the goverment is trying to do things about this. However, they do not want to be discriminating or racist towards all immigrants as not all immigrants are criminals or illegal.... and it is not easy to tell the different right away... You explain to your children the Words upon the Statue of Liberty..... and about seeking refuge, and how many struggle to start a better life in a new country....
As long as a person is working, and doing their best, and not causing trouble. Make them a citizen, if a person is raising trouble refusing to work or help out... Send them back...
This is how my personal opinions are about this.
