Good question. I think it is more enjoyable if you build bonds. The only problem is sometimes someone will be left out and that can lead to bad feelings. If some of the coworkers are close and another coworker is left out of the group that's not good. I've seen office setting where some of the workers will bond against another and talk about them.

I am fairly new to work place. But building bonds will make things complex. Thats what i have seen in my few months !!

Yes, I've seen the same thing. You do want to be on friendly terms with your coworkers though.

Most of our prime time we spend in work place. Mornings we will be in a hurry, evening we will have to cook or look after other works. Hence day time only we are free and spend that time with our colleagues at work place. I feel you can make the workplace relationship a personal one to the limited extent so that your working atmosphere will be light and enjoyable and cooperation will also be there. This comes under Human Resource Development and HR lessens always say, maintain good relationship with subordinates or colleagues.

In the workplace you should be professional and build those kinds of bonds not emotional ones. You will get hurt and you may hurt your job as well. I think relationships other than professional belong outside of the work arena completely.
