in all the major religions of this world that i have come across, god is always a HE. why is it so? even in hinduism, which believes in several idols, the supreme trinity, Brahma,Vishnu, Maheswar are all HE. Allah is HE, as in christianity (which actually practicies more gender equality than most religions), there is a FATHER IN HEAVEN. why??? i've read somewhere that menstruation and child birth are the two greatest proofs that GOD is a MAN. do you agree? what's your opinion?

damn good question jo. actually for quite some time the female Godhead, Goddess, Shepardess, was the great ruler of the universe.. and before that, as in many modern wiccan circles, the maker is a combination, a union of the God and Goddess figures. I think the loss of the Goddess is a symbol of where our collective consciousness has arrived. Look at our society, and the societies in the world where the God-figure is prominent. What type of cultures are they? They are male-dominated cultures, fueled by masculine aims and generally masculine approaches to existence. With all the madness in the world it seems reasonable that the return of the goddesses and the psyco/sociological implications that has would be one of many steps of healing the world as a whole could take.. ah, but i am regurgitating things i have read by random authors i can't remember. there are many books on the subject. check 'em out yo.

p.s i always thought that when thinking of the creator of the universe, isn't it pretty natural to think of it as a woman giving birth??... i've come across this in many readings and it just seemed like the symoblism would be more common if we were'nt trained to think otherwise. i dont know. im rambling now. sorry about calling u jo. random name for strangers. but i see you are a woman. much love jane! ;)

Sorry my friend but I think you don't know fully about Hinduisum. In Hindusm it is not Brahma, vishnu mahesh are superior it is the Shakti which is superior of them all from where the OM came. We are all childrens of Shakti not of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.

isn't brahma the creator of this universe? if there is no universe itself, where do we children stay anyway! and wasn't shakti created by taking forces and weapons from the holy trinity to destroy mahisasura? are you saying that OM came from shakti and not shakti from OM?

well i think that god is not based on gender. the concept of he being the god is in almost all the religons but it is due to the fact that men ruled the world since the conscience was build and followed. he made rules and broke them and made them again and again where their was not much importance for a women. but accoding to the hindhu myth it is true that shakti the power is female which is divided amoung bramha, vishnu and maheshwara as their wifes. anyways myths are always the unknown and unanswerable to the us. they are just blindly followed but as far as i think thier is no gender to GOD infact i think that nature is the ultimate god
