which is prove to be more valuable to work? the qualification you own or the working experience? which is viewed to be more important to the HR department? In Singapore, Qualification is a must, but being a fresh graduate, employers will tend to say that you doesnt have any working exprience and push your pay down... for very exprienced veteran looking for new job, employers look into qualification, conduct, and either state that you are over-qualified for the job, and rather choose a younger chap to save cost.. Singapore is getting more and more hard to live on.. :S

I just want to clarify that qualification and work experience go hand in hand as far as job application is concern. Work experience is one of the qualifications that an employer is looking for in an applicant. Work experince is something you own and something that gets you into the job. So I think we have a little misconception here about qualification. Maybe, what you mean is skills/knowledge vs. work experience. Given that I got it right, still both are what employers look for. And it is normal and practical for employers to cut cost. They prefer to go for a candidate who has both the skills and experience and yet who doesn't need too much. It's a basic truth that hurts people like us who are dreaming to get the best job that we could ever have. But, it's the reality. We must accept it. We just have to make ourselves fit to the corporate world by making sound decisions and taking proper actions.

I agree with your opinion. Work experience has more value rather than qualification. And recently we faced to reality that we must able to work that not relate with our qualification. Many companies judges the applicant with working experience rather than qualification.

A qualification can open many doors for people. But once anyone has obtained the degree and then go into the work field, must still feel a little strange. Hands on experience is very important. My father -in - law didnt have a degree in HR but told his future employers he had attended the school of hard knocks. I really hope something comes up for you soon and then you too can say I have the degree and hands on experience and you will renumerated for your worth. All the best.

i feel working experience is more important beczuse the person should know about the work for faster productivity in work rather just have a good theoretical knowledge.

Experience in the industry is a must. Whatever books that a person has read and whatever knowledge he has gained from this is not going to make him survive in the industry.. You need to have experienced every problem the hard way.. only then you will be able to better handle responsibilities and manage things easily.. Qualification is a must, but its not going to take you very far..

The field i am in now is mostly about work experience. I had to challenge an owner to why i should get the job and how cost effective i would be. He gave me a month and i proved myself to him. Since then i have moved up and i get paid more than what a graduate would get. So i am going to say work experience, but i do have my basic skills required for my job.

we judge a person if he/she is the right one for the job usually rely on the qualification at beginning.but actually working experience is more important for a employer.it is because the qualification is easy to proof, but working wxperience is not.

According to me qualification is required to get into the selection process of most of the organizations. It depends on the requirement of the recruiter, If they are conducting fresher recruitment then only qualification matters with good presentation skills, you have to sell yourself. And if the requirement is for a higher post then definitely the work experience is a must.

I agree that work experience is a must but then higher qualification is a must if we want to achieve higher post and good pay.......even though we hav experience but if our qualification is not much then it effects our salary.

I think the employers here are just giving all the bulls**t to cut the package. Just like you say, if you have a degree, they say you don't have the experience, and if you have the experience, they say you don't have a degree. Whereever I go, even though I'm being paid much much lower than my boss who has a degree, I am still expected to know what my boss' work & cover him/her when they go on vacation, etc, etc... And if you are lucky enough to find an employer who likes you enough, nothing else really matters... But that's a fact of life.

this is not something that is restricted to your country only, it is happening in the business world almost everywhere. in fact today most of the employers are looking for people who stand well on both qualification and work experience. because there is a different kind of learning associated with both these aspects. as a fresher if possible just ignore your paypackage for the first six months, by then you would have earned some work experience which will reward you pretty soon

I prefer working experience. I think working experience is more important than qualification. It is useless person with many certificates cann't accomplish just one simple work. As for the company, I understand why they choose yonnger chap to save cost, because the competition is furious. Anyway, if I were the boss of a company, I prefer to pick up some experienced veterans.

Now a days where employment is sinking...I think work experience is preferd over Qulifications...the recriuters don't want to take any chances with thier aims or goals so they recriut the experienced peoples in whatever filed their is any vacancy...

Qualification or working experience? 2 term with saem importance in work, but I think working experience is more important than qualification. With working experience, you will get both emotional study and qualification study. Qualification tends to your educational background, but working experience tends to many concern.
