ok, this isn't about wheter or not we should be at war. The plain fact is, we ARE at war. I think the Iraq war is the new Vietnam. We are in another country, far away, fighting a guerilla style war that we can't really win. It is sad, as I think we should have learned from the last war. Don't flame here, this is my opinion. What is yours?

I agree with you, it was a mistake to start this war and I can't wait for it to be over already.

I think you are right. We are in a country that doesn't want us there. From what the news tells us, we aren't making things better, if anything we're making it worse because we still have troops over there. Troops need to come home. I don't think either side can win this war, we just need to get out of there.

true, but if we leave too quickly now, we put the people at risk who are innocents there.

War In Iraq - War in Iraq
Whether or not we agree with the war, we are at war and an interesting fact that the leaders of the 3 countries most involved, USA UK and Australia, were all returned during this period in free democratic elections. As we are there, our military should be supported because they were sent there by a duly elected democratic government. I am not saying people are not supporting the military, but there were similar circumstances with Vietnam and those members of the military who served in Vietnam suffered, and continue to even today, because of their service. There will be some people in Iraq who want a return of the old resume and do not under any circumstances want anyone else there. However there are an equal number of Iraqis who do want assistance from other countries. I think that it is time that the nations involved trained the Iraqi people, military and law enforcement, to a stage where they can take care of their own problems. After that they are on their own and if there is a civil war it is up to them to sort it out. One rather sad thing is that when the USA UK and Australia remove their troops, the fighting will continue because the current rebels or whatever they are called are being armed by other nations who are not all that keen on seeing Iraq as a democratic country.

I think it is a hard thing to know what to do, and I wish we had not gotten involved in such a war. The soldiers are paying dearly and I'm not sure it's worth it.

It's hard to know what to do now, they are trying to train the local police to handle the problem, but I have my doubts that this will work.

I agree with you completely. The reason this war even started is shrouded in controversy. As I'm sure we've all read plenty of material, I won't bother elaborating, but you know what I mean. Everyone is so focused on the trade center towers, which to me is rediculous. That wasn't done by them to start a war... (if indeed it was them)... it was done in retaliation for something. I have my own opinions about the whole thing, but really, I don't feel safe talking about how I really feel about the world right now. More and more, this planet feels like some kind of prison, where if anyone steps out of line they will end up in some concentration camp tortured at the bequest of world leaders. Politics should never have been set up this way. We should, as the people, vote for or against ISSUES themselves, not for some other person to decide things FOR us.

it is a confusing and dangerous world right now. No one trusts anyone, and there are so many nuances to this war. I have a hard time trusting a lot of those countries, they smile while holding daggers.

I agree with you. War is always a sad thing. I hope one day we as a species can overcome the need for war.

I surely hope so, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards as long as we continue to point out the differences in each other rather than the similarities
