It is always difficult renting a place and you want to make it more livable for yourself. Maybe when you fix up the house you can come to an agreemant with the owner of the house to take it off your monthly payment.

i hope that works as some places dont do that, its eayer to have a home but if you need to rent, its always nice to have a good landlord. im moving from a house to a condo, and will be renting, its going to be hard but im sure ill manage. just hope the landlord is nice. he seems nice on the phone, but could be very different in person.

We bought our first home 2 years ago...we were tired of renting although we are finding that renting was a lot easier for us since we move almost every 2 years. We purchased a new mini home and dont own the land and that is where we are getting in to problems. The company my husband works for (when its time to move) wont take care of the house for us because we dont own the land. The house value has gone down. Tried to sell last spring and we were looking at a $30 000 loss for only being a year old. So we are stuck with it until we can save money for some land. wish us luck.

Well sometimes I do the repairs and forget it and do not involve my landlord as he is bothered about the rent cheque on 28th and nothing else.

I own a home that I rent to a tenant and if they want to do improvements to the house it is allowed. I on the other hand rent a home and I have made some improvements with the landlords approval. So you should be able to fix it up as long as it is tasteful and your landlord is willing to let you. I have taken some things off the rent if they cost very much, but most of the time I just pay out of my own pocket because they are cheap simple changes. I let the landlord do all the expensive upkeep repairs that way I am not liable for anything in the future

When we rented, if there was something I wanted done I would talk to the landlord and get it taken off the rent. It worked out well and I knew It would get done

yes,but what do you do if he or her will not come take care of it? we are renting now and he is never around. its hard and i dont want to work on it if he himself is not interested in how the place looks when he goes to rent out. im not saying it very bad.

I think that it depends if you are fincaly stable , if you can buy or rent a house! I believe that a person should start out by renting anf then when they find their dream home they should build there creit up and buy it!

Why are you going to rent? I know the price of houses around here is outrageous, but if you are selling your old house you should have something left over to buy another house with in your new location. Renting is such a waste of money in so many respects.
