Where do all the letters people and children write to SANTA CLAUS actually go?

Well this is out of curiosity that i wanna know. It is known that millions of people do write letters to Santa and post them every year. Where do these letters go, And does anyone ever get a response for them? :)

I know with my kids I retrieve them from the mail box before the mailman comes. I put them with their memory stuff that I keep for when they get older. They will enjoy going back and reading them.

The US post office has a spot for them, I am not sure where they go from there...Santa never said he would write back as far as I know!

They probably just throw them out. And some place have the employees write back to them.

Has anyone ever got a response for the letter and has it been a good and genuine response, no matter who wrote them?
