The U.S. Government want to tell you how to raise your kids.

When I was a child my parents spanked me. I even sometimes got it with a belt if the infraction was major. Now I am not condoning that kind of spanking. In fact I really do not condone spanking beyond the age of 5 when they become old enough to begin to understand and reason. Most adults over 25 or so had the occassional spanking. It got our attention fixed right on the cause of it and the behavior modification usually sunk in didn't it? We're alright as adults aren't we? So why is it now a law that you cannot spank your child? This is the way that most of us were raised to be productive members of society. Politicians too! So how come they now want to come and investigate your home and tell you what you should do to raise your children properly. They inforce their rules in your household by threatening or in actuality taking them away and making you take parenting classes.
Do they really intend to send the message that our parents and all the preceding child rearing generations which have spawned us are wrong? Is it their argument that there is only one way to rear a child, any child, when there are more than 50 accredited methods to train a dog?
