Rainbows don't have a starting or an ending point. As you move, they move with you. This is because a rainbow is basically, the sun's light refracted by falling rain. As your position changes, the light that hits your eye changes. As you get closer to the rainbow, it will fade and eventually disappear. no two people can see the same rainbow because they are seeing light reflected from a different set of drops. There is a legend that says if you go to the end of the rainbow you can find a pot of gold. However, because every time you move you are actually seeing a completely different rainbow, you can never get to the end. I just learned this in my meteorology class and I thought it was interesting.

Quite interesting, and I was only stating the what ifs, even though many of us know there is no real such thing as Gold at the end of a Rainbow.

Very good explanation, scientific side, rated positive.
Aside from my post here, I started a topic entitled Origin of the Rainbow. Anybody who wants to know may go to my Profile and open such topic.

Wouldn't we all like to know where it begins and ends? I guess it will always just be something to wonder about.

Oh dear, I am not sure that I could ever find the end of the rainbow, but I am certain that if I did I would fall off the end of the earth. LOL
Whether or not there is a pot of gold there, finding the end of the rainbow and then surviving to tell the tale would be reward enough for me.

To me it's just a fallacy, I love seeing rainbows, and it's a wonderful phenomenon in the sky, and it is very rare to see them but as for the crock of gold? No it doesn't exist, that probably makes me sound like a pessimist? The gold for me is seeing a rainbow and it makes me feel alive and makes me appreciate mother nature more.

I think I would have a better chance of winning the lottery than to find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Well, since I need to buy a Ticket in order to even have a chance at winning the Lottery, and I do not play it, I guess my chance of doing either is pretty slim then, huh?

That is an interesting point. And yes, I would say if you could find the end of a Rainbow you would be a lucky person for sure.

This is where the rainbow begins - the bow here is what we call as rainbow:
God said to Noe after the great flood which killed all creation on earth except those in the ark:
"11And I will set the covenant of Me to you, and all flesh shall not still die from the flood of water, and there will not still be flood of water to destroy the whole earth.”
12And the Lord God said to Noe:
“This is the sign of the covenant, which I Myself give between Me and you and between every psyche of life, which is with you, into everlasting generations: 13I set the bow of Me in the cloud, and it will be into a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 14And it will be in the time for Me to bring clouds on the earth the bow of Me will be seen in the cloud, 15and I will remember the covenant of Me, which is between Me and you and between every living psyche in all flesh, and the water will not still be into flood so as to blot out all flesh. 16And the bow of Me will be in the cloud, and I will see to remember the everlasting covenant between Me and between every living psyche in all flesh, which is on the earth.” (Genesis 8:11-16)
So what gold at the end of the rainbow we were made to believe? The rainbow is a reminder to God that He will no longer destroy the earth and all life on it by means of water and that is our assurance that flood will not destroy God's creation on earth. BUT the earth shall be destroyed by fire on the last day and the Lord will grab His people at the twinkling of an eye to save them.
May God bless you. SEN
