Who honestly deserved the Mvp award of the 06 season? Was it Ryan Howard the man with the numbers. Or was it Albert Pujols, the man who led his team to victory and the more consistant player.

I have to go with Howard, maybe I've been brainwashed by the media, but I think he deserved it the most in the NL... I do believe he had the greatest impact on his team during the stretch run, which is when you need people to step up the most... Remember Vlad in 2004, he pushed the Angels offense along to get them into the playoffs and that was the pursuading push towards him earning the MVP award... I disagree with the AL MVP though, Justin Morneau? You can't have two first basemen win MVP! I almost want to give it to Johan Santanna, he was tied for the league lead in wins, had the lowest ERA, and struck the most people out! I konw that's why they have the Cy Young Award, but was he not the MVP?!?

Yea i get you. Johan is the most dominant pitcher in the game. He started this last season real bad. Must have been like 0-4 or so. The problem is that they wont give the MVP award to a pitcher. I doubt they ever will. Unless a pitcher manages to get 30 wins, and that really isnt possible in this era of baseball, not with a five man rotation, and not with all the injuries. It was a shame that Santana lost the first game of the playoffs though. I was hoping that Minnesota would face Detriot in the ALCS.

I definately was happy they lost to my A's! I thought we were going all the way when we beat Santanna, but what can you do!?! Aside from having Santanna win I think Ortiz should've won the AL MVP. He had the most RBI's and homers in the AL, and finished runner up to Howard in both catagories... Although Ortiz's average ranked 33rd in the league he constantly won games for his team in the batter's box!

the mvp should be the player from a playoff team. as good as howard's numbers were the phillies did not make the playoffs. if howard was not around the phillies would still miss the playoffs so does his numbers mean anything. i doubt if the same can be said for pujols.

Pujols had a great season but after the Phillies traded Abreu, Howard took that team and almost made the playoffs. So while I could see either of them winning the MVP(both deserved it) It wasn't that big of a travesty as in years past that Pujols didn't win it. I was more suprised Jeter didn't win in the AL then Pujols not winning in the NL

Howard did have help from Rollins and Utley. But Jeter? Jeter didnt deserve the AL MVP. Did everyone simply forget about David Ortiz? Howard won the award but did not have his team advance to the playoffs, and still won it. Couldnt the same have gone for David Ortiz. Dont forget about Jermaine Dye. Howard, Ortiz, Jeter, Pujols are all familiar names, but people forget about Jermaine Dye. If you look at his stats he was near the top of every statistical category, except the bad ones.
